My philosophy is based upon the belief that children move through stages of development based on their knowledge and experience. My efforts are dedicated to creating a place where those first years can be a positive and beneficial experience for each and every child in my care. I work to create an atmosphere where each child knows they are loved and will be treated fairly with respect even when their outer behavior may need to be redirected. I strive to give each child a sense of his part of the community. Since the most powerful way to teach a child is by example, I not only encourage positive virtues in the children, but I also try to exhibit them myself.
I am committed to working with all children and no child is excluded on the basis of level or type of disability. I accept the child at his or her developmental level. In collaboration with families and community, I am committed to meeting the developmental and educational needs of all children. An ongoing authentic assessment of each child’s developmental needs and interests continues throughout the year. Anecdotal
information resulting from my observations and parent input is recorded for each child. The assessment is used to plan appropriate learning activities for each child. I work to embed the children’s individual objectives into classroom activities and routine.
It is my goal to provide an educational setting to meet the needs of the whole child with the emphasis on learning through play. I believe all children have the right to have their culture acknowledged and respected. My child care recognizes and celebrates cultural differences that exist in children. Knowing the tremendous impact the early years have on a child, it is my goal to provide a supportive environment where
we work together with the parents to make each child’s first five years a positive and beneficial experience.
